KCOM has a blooming good time helping local community

Green fingered KCOM volunteers have been helping out to make one North Lincolnshire community look blooming lovely.

The volunteers, Linzi Corrigan, Katie Lindley, Matt Milnes, Jamie Langrick, Mark Robinson and Brian Edwards, visited Kirton in Lindsey recently to help out with preparations for Kirton in Bloom, to get the town looking at its floral best.

Linzi said: ““It really was a pleasure to pitch in and help tidy the lovely marketplace and Town Hall courtyard. It’s easy to see why the community is so proud and committed to looking after this space!”

Local residents were also quick to show their appreciation of their KCOM guests with lots of positive comments and a free lunch delivered courtesy of the local chippy.

“We enjoyed meeting the friendly passers-by who stopped to say hello,” said Linzi. “Big thanks to Bob at Kirton Lindsey Fish Bar who generously provided free lunch for us all, it was a great gesture and much appreciated. So thank you again, and we’re looking forward to getting involved in more community projects in our North Lincolnshire villages and towns.”

The KCOM team pitched in to help weed, tidy the flowerbeds and spruce up the pavements removing moss ahead of a visit by the Britain In Bloom judges from the Royal Horticultural Society.

East Yorkshire-based KCOM started expanding across the Humber Bridge to North Lincolnshire for the first time in its 120-year history in 2020 and now covers more than a dozen local communities with award-winning, ultrafast, full fibre broadband network.

Linzi said: “Volunteering projects like these are testament to our community-focus and values – embedding ourselves in communities and taking the time to understand what’s important to them.

“By doing this we create authentic, sustainable relationships that will stand the test of time.”
